The Captain Edgar Dale Post #81 of the American Legion is located in El Dorado, Kansas.
In June 1919, El Dorado Veterans of the Great World War held a meeting to plan the organization of a local American Legion post. Many of the veterans had served in Third Kansas under Captain Edgar Hayden Dale. Third Kansas merged with Fourth Missouri to form the 139th Infantry, 35th Division. The men under Captain Edgar Dale fought in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. Captain Dale was among the soldiers killed in battle.
